Teaching Toughness This Week

Have a read of this and try not to laugh (or cry when you consider the cost of sending all those teachers to the USA). It would be a hell of a lot better to teach kids that when you are told to do something, you actually have to. Sorry, that idea's a bit too radical.

You can only imagine the sort of guff Prof Seligman can come out with. I just wish Chalk Enterprises had come up with the idea first.

Hang on a minute. Weren't we Teaching Happiness last week? Just make sure you don't get them mixed up.

ps There's some new links on the sidebar to various 'Rate My' things

How about ditching all of this new image crap and letting us get on with teaching children .... let the teachers teach and let the parents parent ... sounds like a good deal to me

I am not sure I am qualified to teach 'happiness'.

Is it a coincidence that these courses crop up in places like the USA, and not Bosnia or somewhere like?

What a great idea...because as we all know the Americans are world renound for their emotional resiliency. Why they only rush off to their therapist each time the vending machine in the corridor is broken. It's like sending Iain Blair over there to see how effectively they manage gun crime.

In a break between songs at a recent fok festival, Coup, Boyes and Simpson introduced us to "Yorkshire Therapy". It is: "Na then". If this fails we progress to: "Get over it!"

Perhaps these teachers, who apparently lack life skills themselves, could be sent to Yorkshire instead.

Any more jobs that used to be the parents' remit they'd like us to take on? Here's another radical idea: send them to us at five days old, we'll socialise and parent them and give them back to you at four so can teach them to read, write and count.

I will be the first to admit, I’ve watched For The Love of the full lace wigs and lace wigs several times, maybe lace front wigs and lace front wigs too many times, but that’s besides the point.
