Spread the word...

I've now got a link to the petition on the right hand side of my page under the book adverts. Here's the code for it.

http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/frankchalk3/

Feel free to send it to anyone who does a blog, or webpage or has the ear of Tony Blair. Try the newspapers or the TES (not sure how much they like me though)

I've also emailed the Ratemyteachers site suggesting that they might improve their image by putting a link up. You never know, they might go for it. (Thanks for that suggestion, 'Whacko')

There's been some debate about the wording of the petition. To be honest, I don't really think it's that important. My aim is simply to draw attention to the scale of the discipline problems we face in State Schools (of which the Government is in denial and the public are largely unaware.) We can worry about the details later.

This isn't a staff meeting so let's not endlessly debate. Let's just get on with it and do what we can.

ps. A robin on the calendar today! One point to HPB.

My guess for 3rd advent is - a lantern.

Too bloody right! The Government love the Public sector because they just talk, they never actually act.

Get people talking about this, get it in the media and you'll get somewhere.

I'm NOT being sarcastic here but I jumped for joy when I got my point.

Reading the comments I had a strange moment when I thought someone was suggesting the an 'enhancement' patch was behind the next door.

I wonder what the idiots over on RMT do.

Next guess = a bell.

HPB.

You'll not beat me so easily HPB, you pesky upstart. A pile of presents is my guess for Monday.

Would love to sign the petition, but alas, I'm neither a British citizen nor expatriate. Merely a slightly spoiled (when comparing my students to working with some classes in state schools) TEFL teacher in Latvia.
Keep hearing horror stories about problems in secondary schools from colleagues who work there and I feel incredibly lucky with my work situation here.
I realize there's a big problem in schools in Britain, and would like to add my name to the petition, if I can.

I'm in two minds about this petition. Yes, teachers have relatively few powers with regard to crowd control and some positive action has to be taken at some point. But rather than gain the power to chuck kids out of school to languish at home until they're old enough to sign on, wouldn't you prefer to chivvy the government into finding out why so many children roll up at the age of eleven with no concept of discipline or desire to learn anything (yes, I could take a fair guess as well) and sort that out instead?
