From our South Korean correspondant:

And the hand wringers think I'm harsh on the kids...

I'm impressed by the 2 boys. It shows some guts to do that. Not to mention a sense of honour that the feckless little scroats in this country couldn't even imagine.
Perhaps that's why they're a nation on the way up whilst we're one on the way down.

It shows honor to cut your own fingers and write with your blood???? Anonymous, we must be using a different dictionary...

I was thinking that perhaps this teacher was trying to pull a page from Harry Potter, where the evil Ms. Umbrage forced the kids to write with their own blood. This is ridiculous in reality, though.
Wow.

They had a choice of cleaning the classroom, or writing something in their own blood. They chose the blood thing. Not much different to here then. My kids would rather cut their throats than actually clean something.

Well I think the punishment is entirely reasonable. Only wish I'd thought of it sooner. My own current fave punishment is to make kids do press ups or star jumps. Making a hyper kid do 20 pressups does actually chill them out too.

Absolutely right Esteban, but no doubt some do gooder will say it violates their human rights to be lazy and get fat...

S.Korea is on the way up not least because it has a settled common culture and population. The little scrote throwing the rock in that other post belongs to a racial group that Korea is never going to allow herself to be enriched by.
