My Identity

Several people have emailed me recently to ask whether I had considered the possibility of losing my job if I was to be identified. I am touched by their concern. (Until they attempt to blackmail me, anyway)

It's an interesting point. Technically I am probably guilty of 'Bringing the profession into disrepute' but then so are most of our SMT simply by coming in to school.

Only one other teacher knows who I am, and they have been sworn to secrecy using an oath that no member of the profession would ever dare break.

'I do solemnly swear that I shall not reveal Mr. Chalk's identity. Cross my heart and hope to cover Drama.'

I'm a Drama teacher and I'm sick to death of other staff moaning every time they have to cover our subject.

I'm a Science teacher and I know exactly what he means!

I'm Maths and I'd rather stick pins in my feet than cover Drama

Drama is fine! How about PE when youve come to work in heels and a skirt and you are down to cover girls hockey in november. Hmmm.

I love covering drama, I wish I taught it all the time!

I found my way here from PC Copperfield; I'll be keeping a watch at least until I either have an aneurism or finally succumb to despair.

Off topic to this post, but I thought you might like to see that insanity exists on both sides of the Atlantic.

I don't mind covering Drama - (or boy's fighting) at least you know that you'll not get anything else done.

When you get clobbered for say English there's always that optimistic hope that you might be able to catch up with something!

The best subs are one where the class has also gone out with that teacher and that member of the SMT - normally the newest one - has not realised.

Drama = Mickey Mouse Subject. The work left usually reflects this.

Drama Cover = Boys fighting + Girls gossiping

No chance of you bringing the profession into disrepute.

Blunkett did that years ago, before moving on to other professions and knackering them as well. I'll leave you to work out which one I'm referring to!

I'm more interested in 'Only one other teacher knows who I am, and THEY have been sworn to secrecy'

At this point I am concerned for the education being delivered to my kids when you are one of the good guys.
