Following a recommendation, I watched ‘Bad Lads Army Extreme‘ on the TV the other night. This is billed as putting a bunch of naughty boys through 1950s style Army training. I was looking forward to seeing Wayne and Leon peeling a gigantic pile of potatoes or scrubbing the parade ground with their toothbrushes.
Alas the reality as with all TV was very different. If you didn’t like it, you simply threw a tantrum; stormed off telling everyone where to go and went home, without any comeback. The others have no doubt been bribed off-camera to play along in order to keep the series going, otherwise they would all walk out. Thinking about it, that's a bit like our school really. Also, why is everything called 'extreme' these days? The only extreme thing was the number of offences this motley bunch had commited without any real consequences.

One cannot escape the notion that a mud slide is engulfing us all as we lose out to bureaucracy; mistaken notions of rights without the necessary responsibilities; silly ideas of what constitutes equality; reports that are so fluffed as to be worthless; and the Lowest Common Denominator (also known as entropy in physics and a peneplain in geology).
The result is that the teacher becomes powerless to carry out both parts of his or her trade - those of teaching as in educating, and that of training as in a rap across the knuckles as an unruly, savage and unsocialized little homo sap is , hopefully, turned into a human being.
My 10 year old would have laughed at the stuff they made them do. What a bunch!
As you say, it was shocking how many crimes they had commited.
Bad Lads: I was there -- and no, the lads who stayed certainly weren't bribed to stay.
I found it humourous, that all these hardened criminals went to tears when a snake was shown to them. My favourite this week was the guy who showed off because he got arrested for nearly using a hammer on someone, but then cried because he didnt want to hit a bunny rabbit to death. Humans = fine, bunnies = cruel. Diddums! Infact i suggest you skin rabbits with dwayne in your next class
My 10 year old pestered me to take him to the GoApe course in Grizedale forest.
In other words people will PAY to do a more challenging assault course than these toe rags AND consider it money well spent!
Is it not called extreme to differentiate it from the previous series?
Personally I find it amusing but more than a little melodramatic.
