Hina Patel

Teenagers these days... they don't know they're born.

Ms Patel had a varied and demanding position at the school, whose motto is Nihil Nisi Bonum which means "only the best will do" (their teacher).

Cue comments about how the two boys will be traumatised etc.

I seriously doubt the boys were traumatised.

I seriously doubt that even when it is fifteen year old girls in similar cases, that they are traumatised either. Regardless of what our puritanical group-think might wish.

However... a position of trust is a position of trust. The children are in the care of the teacher, who is acting (if my memory serves) in loco parentis.

I doubt that anyone would be fine with parents sleeping with their children, so we shouldn't be fine with loco's sleeping with their children.

I don't see age as being the primary factor in these cases. When doctors have sex with their patients we consider that pretty seedy for the same reason, it is an abuse of trust.

While not in any way seeking to diminish the abuse of trust which this represents, why does the old time-honoured phrase "It takes two to tango" spring to mind?

And why are parents of 15-year olds at an all-boys school so incredibly naive as to say - and I quote: "this is one of the last things you’d expect" I wouldn't mind betting that their offspring know about it all along.

One assumes this paedophile will be jailed and on the sex offenders register for life?

Oh, hang on, it was a WOMAN?

Hot...

I wish I were 15, and at her school....

I really wish, in cases like this, that some bloke who was 15 when he had sex with his thirty-something teacher would step up and say, "It was great! Made me the man I am today!" or "You cannot imagine the misery I went through" because it's notoriously difficult to imagine the impact of an experience you haven't had, a fact I am aware of even while sitting here saying to myself,"She's gorgeous. Who would complain?"

From a female's point of view - yuck. I've never slept with a 15 year old boy (not even when I was a 15 year old girl!) but I can only imagine the experience would be ... brief.

Why did I never get this lucky at school. I lusted after our drama teacher, she was gorgeous - no luck, though.

David Niven at the age of 14 had a long affair with an woman in her twenties. He said it was the making of him as a lover. I expect it would also have been the making of me but I never got that lucky. I lusted after some of our young female teachers. I most certainly would not have been traumatised.

Brief, Fee, but soon repeated :)

Luck little bastards! I never had it this good at 15! Most I got was few wanks over Maths Teacher! Okay what she did was morally wrong, Paedophile: NO. Remember Police 1980s song 'Don't stand so close to me?' All about schoolboy fantasy.

We all had fantasies over our teachers. I remember a girl who 'fell in love' with the English Teacher. It's more common than we realise that's why I'm not taking moral high ground on this one.

How come it took these 2 15 year olds so long to complain? My heart bleeds for them. The media will pillory this Asian beauty not a mention for all the good work she did. I don't think she's a bad person. It's young love & doesn't deserve punitive trial by media!

If society treated teenagers as young adults instead of asexual children perhaps they would behave more responsibly.

In a society where teenagers regularly stab/impregnate each other it's somewhat ridiculous to criminalize having consensual sex with them.
