Nightjack

How exactly is it in the public interest to expose the identity of (and therefore make it impossible for him to continue) a man who publicises the numerous failings of modern Policing; which are, judging by the popularity of his Blog presumably of interest to the public?

By this logic, it would certainly be in the public interest for the Times to publish the identity of a man who has made the mistake of frequently criticising the shambles that passes for State Education.

Hang on I'll be right back, there's somebody at the door...

It certainly is concerning. Looks like I picked the wrong week to start blogging!

Its not the anonymity that is important its the small minded bosses reaction to it.

Beat the buggers to it Chalky, publish your identity, and stick two fingers up to the establishment.

Talk about hypocritical! A newspaper, which has in the past refused to name sources of information, then turns around and refuses someone else anonymity. A judge who has, in the past, been a proponent of the right to privacy, allows them to do it.

A fine example of double standards.

I'd never heard of Night Jack until now but will make sure now that I read every word he has ever blogged.

The whole affair stinks to high heaven. Who'd be a whistle blower now? Does this now mean that your friend and publisher Dan Collins could be locked up for contempt of court if he doesn't dish the details on You, Gadget or Ellie Bloggs?

It's all a bit worrying really. We're all having our 'fun' blowing the whistle whilst remaining anonymous but we've all got something to lose if we're exposed.

I'm blowing the whistle on what's been going on in boarding schools but how long will it be before I am brought to task to name names?

Without whistle blowing, where the hell would we be? Please visit me whilst anonymity is pain-free!

If they come for Chalk, they will definitely come for Gadget.

I'm sad and angry about this too, Mr Chalk, and of course I hope that you and others on my blogroll won't be the next targets for this miserly form of so-called journalism.

jerym - if anyone had subscribed to his blog using google reader (or other feed) they may still be able to read his posts if he allowed the whole post to be fed.

I hadn't unfortunately :(

If anyone can, as jerym said, a lot of people will be very grateful

Disgraceful what they did to nightjack... freedom of speech my arse.
I hope he can get round it by getting someone else to publish his work.
