This is he silliest thing I've heard in over an hour.

Didn't a school in the West Country do this a couple of years ago?

So hugging's banned - and quite rightly too!

Swearing, on the other hand, is to be encouraged - especially between the staff.

Quite right too. Allow hugging to continue, and it won't be long before someone gets the red hot tip of a splif in their eye.

Blimey. If this head had been at my school in the 80's he would have had a heart attack with the things we used to get up to at lunch time!

To an outsider, it seems like a typical overreaction of generally ineffective administration to the inability of some monitors/teachers to discourage truly inappropriate public displays of affection. All they need is a little common sense, eh?

You're absolutely right, Mr. Chalk. "Silliest" is the word.

I hate to disagree with Frank, but I wish it was banned at my school - girls are late for EVERY SINGLE LESSON coz they have to all hug EVERYONE in the group, every time they meet and every time they say goodbye after having a chat at the bottom of the stairs. They also have to hug when they just pass in the corridors. It drives me insane! and when you tell them to stop, they have to have another hug, to comfort each other. AARRGGHHH!!

Hello from the US!

I'm amazed that someone thought a law against hugging at school was important enough to enact, but not a law against misbehavior at school.

All I can say is I'm glad my children are long since absent from the school system.

PC killed the West.
