How could they...
I would certainly never suggest for an instant that Drama or Media Studies are in any way less serious subjects than Chemistry or German. (Unlike Dr. Coe)

Did the author of that article get GCSE Bleedin' Obvious?
The sad thing is some SMTs believe strongly in residuals and if you're poor bloke teaching Nuclear Physics rather than "Sponge Bob Square Pants the Movie" your results can seem to be pretty bad.
My comment refers to the allocation of responsibility for results to the shoulders of the teachers, rather than their being the product of student effort and ability.

I'm glad to see that Spanish falls under the guise of "harder subjects." That validates who I am as a teacher.:)
