Good or Outstanding

I would like to apologise to you all for talking complete nonsense over the last five years. According to schools inspectors, pupils' behaviour in 80% of schools (4 out of 5 for those of you who teach primary) is either 'good' or 'outstanding'.

It's time to come clean. Troublemakers like myself have been lying to you all along.

LOLOL.

In my dreams.

The only way that could be true is if all troublemakers are excluded form school or kept home "ill" during an inspection.

Unless, of course, a disruptive child running round a classroom, shouting, kicking chairs and throwing things at other pupils can now classified as exhibiting good or outstanding behaviour according to Ofsted ?

Shouldn't you write out a hundred times, "I must not pretend some schools are a bit rubbish when in fact we all know they are perfect" as punishment?

responding to Elizabeth, I listed to a 5 Live debate last year and that is exactly what one school did. If Ofstead looked at the number of children on suspensions just before they came and while they were there, they would see a corrolation! Either that or they would see one "class" on a school trip that day.

I can't see why the school needs to know that the inspector is coming at all? How about a mystery shooper like all other walks of life.

Spot on Mr Chalk! Just to push home the point,I would add the usual comment of our inspectors on the Gallic side of the channel : there are no bad pupils, just bad teachers. Agree with Marc too. Letting us know about the arrival of inspectors is just an invitation to get out the camouflage and help those in high places pretend to the nation that they've got it right!

I actually think it probably can nowadays. It's not like Ofsted aren't in on the Great Behaviour Lie.

"a disruptive child running round a classroom, shouting, kicking chairs and throwing things at other pupils" is certainly never seen at our school if we have visitors.

As a public sector employee (not involed in education) who sees the way officials corrupt language to get the desired ahem! 'result,' here's my quick guide.

Excellant - Just about average (0n a good day!)

Good - well below average

Satisfacotry - Shite!

Failed/Poor - Welcome to the Salt Mines comrade prisoner # / 974441

Just my luck. I taught at the one school out of five that was poor or inadequate in behaviour. Of course looking through the report for Bracknell Forest the numbers don't add up with my experience
