Billions spent yet no real improvement in our schools. I reckon most of it has been spent on new forms to fill in.
The kids still share textbooks, discipline has gone out of the window, lessons have become crowd control. Funnily enough, we struggle to attract decent graduates. There is no shortage of computers however.

Drugs education in schools isn't working. Well stone the crows, who would have thought that if you get a load of trendy yoof workers and well meaning teachers to tell the pupils about drugs it will do no good at all.
The only people the kids respect are footballers and 'D' list celebrities. These should be all be rounded up, threatened with disgusting revealations about their private lives and sent round schools to dish out the message that drugs are for losers. A few horror posters showing the state of crack addicts and heroin users wouldn't be a bad idea either.
ps. I got an email today saying that I'd been censored on the Parents Forum! Not sure what the details are yet, but you can check out the thread here

They don't like me much!

They sound like a right bunch of clowns over at Parents Centre. A bit too much like the ones at our place. In fact maybe they are the parents at my school...
I read the thread, and the word twats sprang to mind - however I would never use such a word ;-)
Please read: http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/tm_objectid=17742966%26method=full%26siteid=94762%26headline=28--teens-can-t-read-name_page.html and comment on the NUT remarks.
what a mindless bunch of PC ninnies they are over at that parents centre thing.
i can't decide whether they remind me most of ostriches or nero. they're sort of fiddling with their heads in the sand.
keep telling it like it is chalky, not like these wet idiots wish it was.
D-listers? My lot would happily take the word of a BB reject or attends-the-opening-of-a-used-tissue Z-lister (or Zeleb, as I like to call them) before they would listen to a teacher on anything to do with drugs/sex/anythingelsefun!
The parents centre is run by those that believe the Early Learning Centre is an urban minefield and that all children are would be fine if only they were breastfed until they were 14.
Never mind Chalkie, we all love you!!!! I even bought your book.
I am a bit confused as you said you were heading off to a new career but you still seem to be teaching. What happened?
the censorship of the parents centre forum is not like tes forum controlled by posters, you cant object and get post pulled],posts get moderated willy nilly by the mods without explanation,i post on the parents centre and i have had posts censored[though not deleted]several times.
we as parents are aware of what is going on in schools our children tell us,too many generalisations are made by mr chalks supporters,i accept that his blog and book are just about making a statement/ making money/venting off,but too many people take it all seriously.
That's because it is all serious. In education-speak, he hits all the right targets.
Parents Centre forum is just full of moaning parents. The sort who waste endless amounts of our time complaining about trivia
and tes forum is?.......
